    Overall Score of Bands in IELTS

    The Overall Band Score is the average of the four component scores rounded to the nearest whole or half band. The component scores are weighted equally. You need to know them more accurately and here IELTS COACHING DWARKA with the details:

    If the average of the four kinds of the test gets ended in 0.25, the Overall Score of Band is rounded up to the next half band, and in case it ends in 0.75, the Overall Score of Band is rounded up to the next whole band.

    The listening test of IELTS has 40 questions. Every right answer is given one mark. The scores out of 40 are calculated in the form of the IELTS scale of nine-bands. The scores of IELTS examination are presented in half and whole bands.

    Reading


    The Reading test of IELTS examination has 40 questions. Every right answer is awarded one mark. The scores out of 40 are calculated in the form of the IELTS scale of nine-bands. The scores of IELTS examination are presented in half and whole bands.

    The Reading tests of General and Academic Training are checked on the same scale and given scores in the same patterns. The difference between the two kinds of tests is one of genre type or it might be of the text type. There are texts in Academic Reading tests that have quite a difficult level of vocabulary and much better complexity as far as style is concerned. It is very necessary that a more

    and more question must be answered absolutely rightly on a General Training Reading test to secure a given band score.

    Writing

    The examiners are supposed to use the criteria of assessment to avail a band score for each criterion out of the four:

    • Achievement of Task (for the first Task), Task Response (for the second Task)
    • Cohesion and Coherence
    • Lexical Resource
    • Grammatical Accuracy and Range

    The criteria are given importance equally and the score on each and every the task is the average.

    Speaking


    The examiners are supposed to use the criteria of assessment to avail a band score for each criterion out of the four:

    • Coherence and Fluency
    • Lexical Resource
    • Grammatical Accuracy and Range
    • Pronunciation
