The four tests

Bands

You need to know about the word 'bands'. This is a unit of measurement. It is used to express your marks or grades in IELTS examination. There are 10 bands. You need to score more than 6 bands to get the passing certificate in each of the test individually. You need to score more than 6 bands in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The universities in the world have different norms with respect to the bands that that you achieve. Some universities may give you admission even when you score only 6 bands. On the other hand, it is compulsory to score more than 8 bands to take admission to some universities. Therefore prepare for it very well. Do not take it lightly at all. Online test

IELTS Examination is taken online but you need to appear at the exam centre for giving your speaking test. There is an invigilator who takes your speaking test at the centre. The other tests of reading, writing and listening are performed with the help of the system.

Validity of IELTS certificate

When you appear in IELTS examination and crack the examination you receive a certificate. The results of the examination are valid for the next two years.
